Banyana Banyana have restored the pride and dignity of the South African football loving nation by showing their mettle and determination during their final match against their fancied opponents and their nemesis Nigeria.
Following a successful preparation tour in the South American tournaments in Paraguay in October, our fearless soldiers have shown that South Africa has got talented soccer players who just require the financial support from the state and the corporate sector to be able to fly the country’s flag even higher.
At Kick iT Kidz magazine we are extremely proud of the ladies and wish them all the success they deserve in the World Cup in France 2019. We will certainly be following their journey on behalf of the multitudes of millions of South African young girls who also dream of gracing the international stages on behalf of their beloved country. With the recent successes of Banyana, the parents of the little girls who have lost hope in the past will now be able to take a second to think about the prospects of their children playing soccer and making a living.
SAFA should also be given a pat at the back for a job well done in supporting our local coach and the players. What is needed now is to continue on the current trend and who knows, maybe the boys will now also be motivated to do even better than the girls, and not the other way round for a change.
The girls might have lost narrowly due to penalties against Nigeria, but for the first time in many years, the gap has been closed and honestly the South African team was the better team for most of the game and if a bit sharper, the girls could have sneaked at least a goal past the Super Falcons as they have done during the group stages.
Well done Banyana Banyana, you are on the right track.
